Third division football team Alemannia Aachen has reacted to its sporting decline and released coach Benedetto Muzzicato.

The traditional club announced this on Monday two days after the 0-1 home defeat against FC Ingolstadt. With ten points from eleven games, the former Bundesliga club fell back to relegation place 18.

“After a detailed analysis, we see the need to take this step. After three defeats in a row and a total of seven defeats, we lack the conviction that the turnaround will be successful in this constellation,” said sports director Rachid Azzouzi.

On an interim basis, assistant coach Ilyas Trenz, together with U19 coach Carsten Wissing, will prepare the team for the away game at SV Wehen Wiesbaden on Friday evening.

In addition to Muzzicato, assistant coach Noah Hach and technical director Erdal Celik were also released.
