Vasseur’s satisfaction with Ferrari’s podium: “I’m proud of the team for the reaction”. Vigna: “The team has shown that we can achieve notable results”
Ferrari returns to the podium in Austin, led by Charles Leclerc. Excellent performance from the Monegasque, aggressive at the start with the soft tire and in the duels with Lando Norris. The McLaren driver finishes in front, thanks to a clearly superior car, but Leclerc managed to excite the Red fans with his tenacity. “I was a bit worried when I saw that I was the only one with red tires at the start, I knew it was a risky move,” commented the Ferrari driver. “What I had in mind was to take advantage of the soft to try to have clean air. It was a very optimistic vision because we had two cars in front, but at least we gained a position. I’m happy overall because it was a difficult second part of the year and we returned to the podium after a complicated start to the weekend. We recovered well.”

Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur is very smiling during interviews. Leclerc’s sixth podium of the year brought positivity back to Maranello: “The secret of the step forward? I think it’s thanks to the optimization relating to the tyres, if you don’t put them in the right window you lose five or six tenths. I’m proud of the team for the good recovery after Friday. Today the pace was there, we had to be aggressive with the strategy”. On the words of esteem and trust from the president of Ferrari, John Elkann: “The situation was already clear internally, not for some journalists. Sometimes it is difficult to manage and maintain calm, because it becomes a distraction. The president’s message was clear, we must concentrate on the last races”. The CEO of Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna, also spoke: “Good race, good spirit. We needed it because this podium is the culmination of a lot of work. The beauty of Formula 1 is that things change, the team has shown that we can achieve remarkable results. Let’s keep pushing hard and come on Ferrari.”

The happiest is certainly Max Verstappen, who reduced his gap in the standings from Piastri to just 40 points. The Dutchman continues to impress with his consistency and Red Bull has also grown a lot. “Winning the fifth World Championship? Yes, the possibility is there”, says the reigning world champion. “We just have to try to give our best in these last weekends until the end. We will do everything we can. It’s exciting. We just have to keep the momentum going and see what happens.”
