Tim Hofman surprised many people by reacting so shyly during his meeting with Johan Derksen. Didn’t he want to wait for the Today Inside star and put him through his paces?
It has bothered Tim Hofman for some time that Today Inside faces do not want to justify themselves in his podcast. He has warned that he will wait for them at the studio if they do not come across. Well, the other day he was waiting for Joost Eerdmans at the VI studio, but Johan Derksen actually came out. And then? Nothing.
Starstruck
Johan introduced himself nicely, Tim didn’t dare ask anything and then we saw the VI star disappear into the parking garage. Incomprehensible, says Luuk Ikink. He said in RTL Boulevard: “Tim said: ‘You can ask him so many things and we have to talk about it’, and people could send emails with questions for Johan, and then we get this.”
Colleague Rob Goossens said: “Yes, I think they are mutually starstruck. They are completely impressed that they have finally met each other. This is going to be a bromance. Tim is going to smoke cigars with Johan, Johan is going to deadlift with Tim and drink oat cappuccinos.”
Tim responds
Was Tim indeed a little starstruck? Was he impressed to see Johan in real life? He says against The Telegraph: “I didn’t wait for Johan! I was waiting for Joost Eerdmans and suddenly Johan was there!”
Reporter Jordi Versteegden: “And then? What did you think then? Were you starstruck?”
Tim: “No, I wasn’t starstruck at all. You have to imagine: I was waiting for Eerdmans for at least 2.5 hours, and then Johan came to me to shake my hand.”
Unexpected
It was just very unexpected that Johan suddenly stood in front of him, according to Tim. “Then I thought: ‘Oh yes, Johan, are you okay?’ But I stood there with one eye tilted, because after waiting 2.5 hours… Johan is there every evening, but I just needed Joost Eerdmans for the broadcast the next day.”
Critics thought it was a weak piece. Tim: “Look, I want to discuss many more things with Johan. That will come later. Or not. We’ll take a look.”
