Young cycling fans look up to Tadej Pogačar. The Slovenian is an exceptional driver and has earned a lot this year.
He is considered an absolute star in the cycling world: Tadej Pogačar. The Slovenian from “UAE Team Emirates-XRG” has had a successful year. The 27-year-old once again beat his long-term rival Jonas Vingegaard from “Team Visma-Lease a Bike” at the Tour de France and also defended his world championship title in the road race. He also became European champion. The sporting successes also mean high financial gain for Pogačar.
As the Italian newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” reports, the Tour winner is said to have earned around twelve million euros this year. The newspaper calculated this income itself.
Accordingly, a large part of the money makes up the salary of “Pogi”, as he is also called. His team is apparently supposed to pay him eight million euros per year. The Slovenian’s contract runs until 2030. In addition to the fixed salary, there are also profit and bonus payments.
According to the report, Tadej Pogačar received one million euros for winning this year’s Tour de France. His title defense at the World Cup also apparently earned him a tidy sum of 250,000 euros. The Slovenian has also won cycling classics.
There are also sums from sponsorship contracts. According to the “Gazzetta dello Sport” these should be around two million euros and, according to the newspaper, could even double in the coming season. Accordingly, two more sponsors will be added, each of whom will pay one million euros.
Despite his millions in winnings, Tadej Pogačar remains down-to-earth and always takes a lot of time for his fans. The athlete also spoke about mental stress after his victory at the Tour de France. He explained in July: “We cyclists are sometimes too obsessed with training. Everyone wants to train more and more and more. In the end you keep going in circles. Burnouts can happen. They can happen to me too.”
After his victory in the Tour of Lombardy a few days ago and his 20th win of the season, Pogačar wrote on Instagram: “What a day, what a team. So proud to end the season like this. Grateful to the team and everyone who made this season so unforgettable.”
