Between classics by the old masters and modern works of a digital world: Lang Lang’s new album “Piano Book 2” has been released. It offers music lovers a diverse collection of classics, contemporary compositions as well as film scores, anime and video game soundtracks. ROLLING STONE is giving away four LPs.
“Piano Book 2” is the successor to the first anthology from 2019. Six years later, the renowned pianist presents 32 pieces ranging from Bach, Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff to Tony Ann, Yu-Peng Chen, Ludovico Einaudi and Joe Hisaishi. Also included is the hit “Rush E” as well as soundtracks from “The Fabulous World of Amélie”, “La La Land” and “Naruto”.
Lang Lang wants to get people excited about the piano
In 2019, “Piano Book” was one of the most successful classical albums of the year. According to the press release, this is the Chinese pianist’s heartfelt desire: to inspire people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels to play the piano. His message: Classical music is for everyone.
One component of the new record is, among other things, Chopin’s “Nocturne No. 2,” for which the 43-year-old from Shenyang released a video on October 17th.
