Schaarbeek is the first Brussels municipality to introduce stricter rules regarding the presence of police cars in parks. From now on, police vehicles may only enter parks in exceptional circumstances — for example during urgent interventions or to accompany emergency services. The measure follows the events in the Elisabeth Park earlier this year in which 11-year-old Fabian was killed, which led to a revision of the existing guidelines in the municipal council.
