Have you always wanted to experience what it’s like to ride royally? Then this is your chance. Johan Vlemmix sells his striking replica of the glass carriage. You can come pick it up for fifteen hundred euros, wooden horse included.
The biggest orange fan in the Netherlands has to say goodbye to his beloved carriage with ‘pain in the heart’. “It’s too high, so I don’t have room for it inside. That’s why I’d rather make someone else happy with it than have it rot here.”
Johan’s replica made the national press last year. Especially for King’s Day, he had built a golden poop box into the carriage. He hoped that a member of the royal family would sit in it. But things turned out a bit differently: Johan was not allowed to stand near the official route with his carriage.

The replica is located on the grounds of the former observatory in Hoeven. As a joke, Vlemmix had a wooden horse made to go with it. The carriage itself can still be used as a carriage: the original tie rods are still attached.
“It is a unique eye-catcher,” says Vlemmix. “Perfect for a carnival parade, a wedding, a theme party or even as a tea carriage in the garden. As long as something is done with it.”
And, he adds with a wink: “If they ever need a spare copy at the royal stables, they can always call me, for a special price of course.”
