Six winners were honored at the Female* Producer Prize 2025. They are intended to set new standards for women in music production and songwriting – here are all the details
Producers and songwriters play a crucial role in the creation of songs or albums. However, women and non-binary people remain vastly underrepresented in the music industry. It is all the more important to recognize those producers who have worked their way to the creative top with outstanding contributions. Sony Music and Music Women* Germany honored such personalities with the Female* Producer Prize on October 14th. Three exceptional producers and three visionary songwriters were honored at the Fotografiska in Berlin. According to the organizers, this is intended to set an example for more visibility of FLINTA* people and diversity in music production.

Honor creative FLINTA* voices
For the first time this year, in addition to three producers, three songwriters will also be honored. Ylva Brandtsegg, Hanna Leess and Nini Nutsubidze won in the “Music Production” category, while DEVADO, VAVUNETTHA and Morea prevailed in the “Songwriting” category. The winners were selected by a jury with representatives from various areas of the music industry.
According to the organizers, the number of applications reached a new record this year: a total of 280 people applied in 2025. In total, the award, which has been around since 2022, has received almost 800 applications in recent years.

FLINTA* people are massively underrepresented in production and songwriting
FLINTA* people continue to be significantly underrepresented in both the music production and songwriting sectors. An analysis of the Billboard Hot 100 Year-End Charts 2024 showed that the proportion of female producers was only 5.9 percent, while 18.9 percent of female songwriters were represented.
“In recent years, the Female* Producer Prize has firmly established itself as a platform and springboard for underrepresented talent,” said Christoph Behm, CEO Sony Music GSA. “We are proud to be able to award this important prize together with our partner Music Women* Germany for the fourth year in a row. Congratulations to all the winners!”
Promote female talent
According to the organizers, the prize includes ongoing support for female producers and songwriters. On the day of the award ceremony, several workshop sessions for the winners took place at the Sony Music Circle Studios in Berlin. They will also receive a funding package from Initiative Musik and the SAE Institute as well as an invitation to a three-day songwriting camp from Sony Music Publishing to compose new songs for artists.
Create visibility, enable influence
“The Female* Producer Prize not only creates visibility for underrepresented talent, but also opens doors. Since my win last year, I have been invited to productions more often and feel seen as a music creator. What started as a small step with an application led to opportunities I could never have imagined,” said Philo Tsoungui, winner of the 2024 Female* Producer Prize and Jury member 2025, according to the press release.
“It’s exciting to hear how much talent and creativity there is in the German music market. I think what we’re missing above all is the influence of women in music production,” added Nico Rebscher, producer, songwriter and jury member.
Recognition is good, as the winners of previous years also think. YUKI, who won the award last year, also thinks so: “The Producer Award encourages female and non-binary producers to trust in their abilities, build on them, look for role models and become one themselves.”
