Tension around Piazza Primo Maggio where a group of protesters tried to break through the first security cordon. There was a lot of throwing of objects to which the police responded by turning on water cannons
Two hours of peaceful procession, with 8,000 people involved, then the incidents around Piazza Primo Maggio. A group of Pro Pal protesters tried to break through the police blockade to head towards the stadium, where the match between Italy and Israel is being played, causing riots. There was a heavy throwing of objects – bottles, stones, even some torn road signs – to which the police in riot gear responded by activating water cannons. The rioters broke through the first security cordon, set up by the organization of the demonstration, but were unable to overcome the barrier of the police. Some paper bombs exploded. However, the clashes continue. Armored vehicles also arrived to reinforce the blockade of the officers, who also fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. A television operator was apparently injured in the face by a stone. And other participants in the procession would have been bruised. Some arrests were also made by the police. Around 200 people were involved in the clashes.
