StudiVZ and meinVZ will close on March 31, 2022

Insolvency came in 2017, and a relaunch attempt in 2020. Now it is clear: the VZ-Netzwerke will finally be pulled out of the plug. Everything should be over by the end of March – only the games will probably live on.

Fun groups for students and creeping around, an idiosyncratic neologism for liking: these are the trademarks of the VZ networks. Or was it, one almost has to say. Because the operator Poolworks has announced the closure of “studiVZ” and “meinVZ” on March 31st.

So if you’re reminiscing and others are gushing, you should hurry up.

Continue playing StudiVZ games elsewhere

Various online games, which were quite popular in VZ networks until recently, should probably continue to be playable for users on a new platform or on other sites with all saves.

They are working “at full speed on the migration of the games,” it says in the Poolworks blog. Further information about the games will be published there shortly. The study directory (StudiVZ), founded at the end of 2005, celebrated great success for a good half decade. In the 2010s, however, users ran away from StudiVZ. Social media giant Facebook attracted hordes of users of all ages and thus banished the VZ networks to insignificance.

What users should do now

Before the VZ networks StudiVZ and meinVZ are closed, users should urgently call up their accounts again. There may still be old pictures there that are worth remembering. You can still download them until March 31, 2022. After that, the pages will go offline for good.
