The ASML Marathon Eindhoven is still going on, but the organization is already looking forward to next year. According to course director Wim Nuyts, we are looking into whether more sports enthusiasts can participate.
With around 38,500 participants, this weekend’s 41st edition is sold out. After an evaluation, Nuyts will see whether expansion is possible in the half and full marathon in 2026. “It’s an immensely popular event. Everyone looks forward to it and we have so many enthusiastic participants.”
Nuyts thinks it is especially important that all sports enthusiasts experience a day they will never forget. “When I walk through Eindhoven, I see that everyone is super enthusiastic. Saturday was a wonderful start, on Sunday I also see that everyone is looking forward to it. It will be a day with many happy people, but also with many emotions.”
During the evaluation, the organization will also look at whether Stratumseind can return to the program. The entertainment street was deleted for this edition. “There has been a lot of talk about it and there are many opinions. This means that it is alive. For us, walking comfort and safety come first. We will see how we will tackle it next year.”
