Ruth Peetoom: ‘Mental health care is responsible for many social problems, but healthcare cannot solve everything’

Ruth Peetoom (58) was a preacher, party chair of the CDA and for four years chair of the Dutch ggz, a trade association for mental health care providers. In all these roles she stands up for people who have found themselves in trouble. “I have seen a lot of misery and sadness. I try to link those practical stories to policy, so that something changes.”
