No Oscar scene will probably be repeated more often in the next few days: Will Smith missed Chris Rock on stage with a slap in the face. The reason: Rock had made a clumsy joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, as the presenter for the category “Best Documentary”.
Pinkett Smith looks like “GI Jane” with her shaved head, he said. That didn’t let Will Smith sit down and he could hardly calm down afterwards. The later Oscar winner said several times: “Don’t tear your mouth about my wife.”
Didn’t Chris Rock know about Jada Pinkett Smith’s illness?
However, the incident will not have criminal consequences, as the Los Angeles Police Department has already confirmed, according to “Variety”. Accordingly, after initial investigations, Chris Rock declined to file a complaint against Smith, even though he was slapped by the actor.
Jada Pinkett Smith took to Instagram last year to shave her head due to her illness. It’s hard to assume that Chris Rock didn’t notice.
According to multiple Hollywood media outlets, Will Smith was spotted in the room during a commercial break, still in a bad mood, being comforted by Denzel Washington and Tyler Perry. Cell phone footage from the audience showed him wiping away tears.

Some consolation for Will Smith
Will Smith won the Oscar for best actor for his role in King Richard about half an hour after the incident. Tears flowed in his acceptance speech. Smith then casually returned to the emotional low point: “Denzel (Washington) said to me a few minutes ago, ‘In your greatest moment, the devil comes to you. But I want to be a medium for love.” He later added, “Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father, like they said about Richard Williams. Love sometimes makes you do strange things.”
