Borussia Dortmund’s top scorer Serhou Guirassy has left the Guinea national team for health reasons. A week before BVB’s top Bundesliga game at FC Bayern Munich, the striker returned to Dortmund from Casablanca “strongly weakened physically”. This was announced by the national association.
The day before, Guinea won the World Cup qualifier in Mozambique 2-1 without Guirassy, who was only on the bench. The 29-year-old came after the Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig with thigh problems “for the love of Guinea” and has now decided to return to Germany “with the permission of the coaching staff”. Also because Guinea no longer has a chance of a ticket for the 2026 World Cup.
It remains to be seen whether he will be fit again by the game in Munich next Saturday (6:30 p.m.).
