According to the statement of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, Türkiye achieved a historical success after a long break with Muhammed Furkan Özbek at the Senior World Weightlifting Championship in Forde.
National weightlifter Muhammed Furkan Özbek, who competed in the 65 kilo men’s category in the championship held in the weight categories renewed according to the Olympic games, broke the world record by lifting a total of 324 kilos.
Muhammed Furkan brought the men’s world championship to Türkiye after 15 years by breaking the gold in the snatch with 145 kilograms, the silver in the clean and jerk with 179 kilograms and the record with a total of 324 kilograms.
Cansel Özkan in the women’s category and Yusuf Fehmi Genç in the men’s category won 1 bronze medal each.
