This Tuesday, the president led a campaign event on the corner of Güemes and Avellaneda, in Mar del Plata, heading towards the general elections on October 26. Javier Milei, megaphone in hand, got into a van – from where he gave a speech – along with Diego Santilli and Karen Reichardt, the candidates of La Libertad Avanza.

In proselytizing mode, the president encouraged his Buenos Aires supporters to support the main candidates. But the issue did not get off to a good start, the truck that was transporting the leaders on its bed had to be pushed by the libertarian sympathizers. The effort resulted in the vehicle swaying which, while Milei was saying a few words, almost caused Santilli to lose his balance. Likewise, the meeting went as expected, attracting nearly 2 thousand people.

The official act had its delays, since militants from the Polo Obrero and the left were waiting in the area and it had to be protected by the Gendarmerie, Prefecture, Federal Police and special forces from Buenos Aires. Last Saturday, the head of state had to suspend a similar activity in Santa Fe, a detail that shows the difficulty of the ruling party in campaigning in different districts.

Guillermo Montenegromayor of General Pueyrredón, highlighted the president’s visit to Mar del Plata, along with the candidates. “There are more of us who respect, those who do not break, those who care, those who have hope, those who do things well, those who make an effort every day because we want a better country,” the community leader messaged on his X account.

After the resignation of José Luis Espert due to the scandal that links him to the alleged drug trafficker Fred Machadofederal prosecutor Laura Roteta recommended that the Electoral Board decide that the libertarian list be headed by the former star. “Just as we were great at some point, we will rediscover our greatness as a Nation, once we have completed the reform process that we began at the end of 2023,” Reichardt posted on his X account.

From La Libertad Avanza they asked that article 7 of Decree 171/2019 be applied, “that the adjustment of the order of the list be arranged through the upward movement by gender of the female candidates starting from order number 34 and of the male candidates, starting from Diego César Santilli, who is proposed to occupy the number one order on the list.” For the moment, the definition of the federal judge with electoral jurisdiction of Buenos Aires remains, Alejo Ramos Padilla, to finish confirming who will be the candidate who heads the list.
