FC Barcelona still owes FC Bayern 20 million euros from the Lewandowski transfer. In total there are transfer debts of 159.1 million euros.

Robert Lewandowski’s transfer from FC Bayern to FC Barcelona was over three years ago. In the summer of 2022, the German record champions agreed with the Catalans to change the top scorer for a fee of 45 million euros. As has now become known, a significant part of it has apparently not been received by Bayern to this day.

According to information from the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, which refers to FC Barcelona’s current financial report, the Catalans still owe Bayern 20 million euros from the deal at the time. Although installment payments are common in professional football, the fact that such a large sum is still outstanding after more than three years is likely to cause irritation.

Barcelona is not only in the chalk at FC Bayern. Other clubs are apparently also waiting for money. The deficit is particularly significant at Leeds United: According to the report, Barça still owes the Premier League newcomer around 41.9 million euros for Raphinha’s move. Furthermore, payments are outstanding to Sevilla FC, which has not yet received a share of the remaining 24.5 million euros for Jules Koundé.

Overall, according to the information from the financial report, the top Spanish club currently has transfer debts of 159.1 million euros. Several deals with different clubs are affected by outstanding remaining payments.

It is not yet known whether the affected clubs have now exerted pressure on the Spanish champions or possibly involved associations. In Munich, people have not been satisfied with the economic conditions in Barcelona for some time – the Catalans’ business practices have repeatedly been viewed critically.

Meanwhile, sporting developments are also providing new topics of conversation: Robert Lewandowski, now 37 years old, is said to be increasingly dissatisfied with his role under coach Hansi Flick. According to reports, the striker is increasingly sitting on the bench – a circumstance that is said to meet with little understanding from the veteran.

A change at the end of the season is therefore considered possible. According to the reports, an end to his career is not up for debate.
