VfL Bochum has provided midfield talent Tom Meyer with a new working paper, which will be converted into a professional contract when he turns 18 in December. The homegrown player is currently still playing for the U19 team of the second division team, but Meyer has already had a taste of professional air during training.
“Tom Meyer’s path is once again exemplary of the opportunities that VfL Bochum offers its young players,” said youth director Pablo Thiam. “Tom has worked hard to earn his first professional contract. His achievements in the youth field are remarkable, but he is of course still developing into a professional. We will continue to actively support him in this.”
Meyer himself presented himself as “overjoyed, grateful and happy that VfL is offering me this opportunity. I will do everything I can to develop myself further and continue to stand out through positive performance in order to get closer to the first team step by step. Since I was already able to audition and train with the professionals, I know that the jump into this squad and to this level is enormous. But I have the confidence to do it.”
