My adult son recently came over to catch up and have a nice meal together. I had cooked something tasty for him, and he ate with gusto. We chatted some more over coffee, and I said that I liked the fact that we ate and chatted together. He agreed, but added thoughtfully that his visit was of course also “legacy maintenance.”
