A few months ago, the wife of professional soccer player Marcão announced a cancer diagnosis. Now there is positive news.
Brazilian professional soccer player Marcão and his wife have positive news to announce: Pan Teixeira has beaten her cancer. The couple shared videos on social media showing Pan Teixeira ringing the bell in a hospital’s cancer ward. Ringing such a bell is a tradition in many places that signifies the end of cancer treatment.
At the beginning of June, Pan Teixeira made her cancer diagnosis public. In a video of her brushing her hair and losing clumps of hair, she wrote: “The cancer diagnosis comes like a storm, doesn’t ask for permission and doesn’t seem to care about our plans and dreams. It can make the journey uncertain, but in a way more valuable. It makes us embrace life and reminds us that this journey is unique.”
Even then, she was combative: “Faced with the disease, we have to make a decision that makes the difference: to view cancer as a death sentence or as a life sentence,” she wrote. “I have chosen life, I have chosen to see the good in every moment that I will experience. I will not ignore the bad days, but I know that they will be temporary and short,” continued Pan Teixeira. “Accepting every day with courage, even if it brings with it great challenges, is what really counts.”
Since then, she has kept her followers updated about her fight against the disease. In videos, among other things, she showed how she initially had her hair cut shorter and then how her husband finally shaved it off completely.
Pan Teixeira has now successfully survived the chemotherapy. Marcão posted the video of the people of the bell and wrote: “Thank God it’s over, my love. I love you.” His club, Sevilla FC, also wrote: “Marcão’s wife has announced that she has recovered from cancer. What great news!”
