The procedure in favor of the owner of the Rossoneri club was started on the proposal of ministers Piantedosi and Nordio for “the impetus for solidarity and social inclusion initiatives through sport” given by the founder of RedBird
The Council of Ministers has given the green light to activate the procedure to grant Italian citizenship “for special merits” to AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale, an American financier who founded the RedBird fund. The resolution arrived at the proposal of the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi and the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, in consideration of the favorable opinion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani. Cardinale, explains the note from Palazzo Chigi, “founder of RedBird Capital Partners, the company that owns AC Milan, has given a very strong boost to solidarity and social inclusion initiatives through sport, promoting activities aimed in particular at young prisoners, in conditions of fragility and exposed to the risk of marginalization”.
