how it’s made

With the victory of Sanremo Rally on the part of Didier AuriolIn October 1991, Lancia managed to win its fifth WRC constructors’ championship in a row and decided to produce the Delta Integrale Evoluzione Martini 5 model to celebrate this title. It has various components of a rally car: in fact it has a four-cylinder in-line engine from 2.0 litres and 16 valves equipped with turbocharging Garrett T3 from 210 horsepower of power. Five-speed manual gearbox and a permanent all-wheel drive system, which push this Lancia Delta up to 220 km/h of maximum speed. Aesthetically, the main difference (besides the black color) concerns the alloy wheels: while in the “standard” Martini 5 models they were white, on this car they are in silver. Although it is a car created to win on the WRC dirt roads, it offers collector’s details such as the Alcantara seats Recaroembellished with contrasting red stitching and distinctive logos HF. The car was delivered as new to Le Furie Srlthe singer-songwriter’s music publishing house, as confirmed by a photocopy of the communication postcard, issued in the name of “Mr. Vasco Rossi c/o Le Furie Srl”. The car, registered for the first time in Bologna on 16 May 1992, was then registered again in 1994 with the name Jamaicahis record label.
The price of a unique piece

Analyzing the market for special versions of the Delta Integrale in recent years, we note an extreme dynamism in the evaluations of the Martini 5 model with significant fluctuations. At European auctions, for example, one example sold for just over 112 thousand euros in Le Mans, France, in 2023. While, in other more recent contexts prices have exceeded 170 thousand euros. In the exceptional cases of cars with very low mileages, such as the one sold in the United States with just 168 km, the figures have reached 255 thousand dollars. In light of these precedents, Broad Arrow’s estimate of between 120 and 180 thousand euros appears in line with the market trend. However, experts underline how the famous provenance can often represent added value in these auctions. Other factors, such as the technical conditions, the completeness of the documentation and the quality of the restoration can then play a fundamental role in determining the final price. The raises could thus go beyond the usual prices, reaching almost the 200 thousand euros and transforming this Delta into a real trophy for collectors.
