Eintracht Braunschweig mourns the loss of Frank Kornath. The stadium spokesman suddenly died on Tuesday evening at the age of 65. Kornath, who also worked as a press spokesman for the city of Gifhorn, had only taken over the function of the stadium spokesman in the Eintracht Stadium in the summer of 2024. His predecessor Stefan Lindstedt had also died.
Nicole Kumpis, President of the BTSV, emphasized in a message that Kornath had lived the spirit of the association “with passion, heart and with a deep sense of responsibility”. “His work on the stadium microphone, but also beyond, was characterized by enthusiasm and real identification. We are grateful that he was part of our blue and yellow family,” she said.
Wolfram Benz, Managing Director of the BTSV, recognized Kornath for his long-term contribution: “Whether as a journalist, stadium spokesman or as a commentator on our fan radio: Frank was part of unity for decades.”
Benz thanked Kornath, who was already the voice in the Eintracht Stadium in 1990/91, last year “to continue the severe legacy of Stefan Lindstedt at the stadium microphone” and thus helped the club in a difficult time.
Frank Kornath also reported on Eintracht Braunschweig for the broadcaster FFN, Radio Okerwelle and Radio Saw. He leaves his wife and two sons.
