In an emotional interview in the US TV show “Good Morning America”, Jack Osbourne spoke on the broadcaster ABC over the past few weeks in his father’s life-especially about his farewell concert on July 5, 2025 in Birmingham. Jack described the appearance as a kind of “Living Wake”, a living dead guard.
“It was perfect-viewed in retrospect,” said the 39-year-old in tears when he spoke about the last meeting with his father. During the concert, he stormed behind the stage again to hug Ozzy, kiss and cheer him up with tears: “Crush it!” – “Turn off the stage!”
Ozzy, who presented himself in astonishingly good shape in the last weeks of life, was “Clean, sober and in a really good mood”. Ozzy once said: “If I were sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy.”
Ozzy died “surrounded by love”
The moment of farewell was all the more moving: Jack describes with a certain melodrama how he and his brother cried in the crowd because they were aware that this would be the last appearance of their father.
Osbourne died on July 22, 2025 at the age of 76. The family announced that he died “surrounded by love” with his closest relatives.
Jack also spoke about his mother Sharon, who now goes through life alone after over 40 years of marriage. “It’s okay – but not okay,” said the son honestly. However, the family sticks together – privately and publicly – to continue the musical and human legacy of the “Prince of Darkness”.
The farewell concert “Back to the Beginning” was not only a musical event, but also a symbolic farewell – for friends, family and fans worldwide. In connection with current documentary such as “Ozzy: No Escape from Now” or the BBC series “Coming Home”, a multi-layered picture was taken again in late autumn of his life: that of a rock star who fought to the end-and said goodbye, how just Ozzy could.
