Pfizer plans to launch a vaccine adapted to the omicron by March, and its production is starting now, said CEO Albert Burla in the air CNBC.
“The vaccine will be ready in March <...> We are already starting production of a number of doses, taking risks,” he said.
Burla noted that the drug will also be effective against other strains circulating in the world. In his opinion, it is not yet clear how necessary the existence of a vaccine against the omicron strain is. However, he explained, Pfizer intends to have “a certain number of doses” as a number of states are showing interest in purchasing it.
“We hope that we will be able to achieve something that will provide more protection, especially from infection, since the protection against hospitalization and severe disease that current vaccinations provide is at an acceptable level, provided, for example, the third dose is vaccinated,” added Burla …
