Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz actually wanted to ride points in Singapore on Sunday. But that is now more difficult than expected.
Breaks for the Williams racing stable in Formula 1: Both drivers of the team were disqualified by the FIA world association after qualifying in Singapore. The reason for this was a unpleasant rear wing. The FIA spoke of the fact that the cars had “not met the technical regulations”.
When the DRS is open, both racing crossed the maximum opening of 85 millimeters. Both pilots start at the race on Sunday (from 2 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online) from places 19 and 20. Actually Albon (12th place) and Sainz (13th place) would have started from further ahead. Williams accepted “the results of the measurement fully”.
The pole position went to George Russell. The Englishman referred to the Mercedes world champion Max Verstappen (Netherlands/Red Bull) and the World Cup leading Oscar Piatri (Australia/McLaren), it was the seventh pole for Russell in his Formula 1 career and the second this year.
For Lando Norris (England/McLaren), qualifying was disappointing. The World Cup second did not get past fifth place, so it has to take a catch-up hunting in the 18th season race on Sunday. Kimi Antonelli (Italy) also landed in the second Mercedes in front of him. Record world champion Lewis Hamilton and his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc (Monaco) drove to places six and seven.
