With the Baltimore Ravens, Arthur Jones won the Super Bowl. Now the former football player at the age of 39 has died.
The Baltimore Ravens mourn for a former top performer of their Super Bowl team. As the team from the NFL announced, Arthur Jones died at the age of only 39. Information on the cause of death was not given.
The defensive Tackle was part of the team, which triumphed against the San Francisco 49ers in 2013 in the Super Bowl XLVII. Jones achieved an important sack in the game (a tackle that pushes the opposing team back) against quarterback Colin Kaepernick – shortly before a power failure caused a longer interruption in the New Orleans stadium. He also secured a fumble and conquered the ball possession for his team.
“We are deeply sad about the sudden death of Arthur Jones,” said General Manager Eric Decosta. “Arthur’s presence was a gift for everyone he met.” Chief coach John Harbaugh reported that his heart was “difficult”, Jones was “really a remarkable person”.
Arthur Jones ran for Baltimore from 2010 to 2013 before moving to the Indianapolis Colts. Later one season followed at the Washington Commanders.
Jones was the older brother of the former half-heavy weight and heavy-busted champion Jon Jones. His other brother Chandler Jones also played in the NFL – and also won a great bowl with the New England Patriots.
