Can you have a fun party without alcohol? Yes, say youth workers from the Neie Naober. To introduce young people to this, they organize the Zeroxl party, especially for young people under the age of 18.
There are bladder tests for the ‘0% alcohol, 100% party’ warranty. “If there is a positive test, we will call the parents. Then we must unfortunately say: your child has tested positively. He or she is not allowed in, so you have to come and pick him up,” says youth worker Robin Geertsma.
“The message will come across, because in the four years that we are organizing this party it has only happened once,” Geertsema continues. According to him, it does not mean that the temptation to drink alcohol as a minor is sometimes quite large.
“We hope through this party that they decide not to do it. That they experience that it is also possible without alcohol and I wait until they have the age that it is allowed.”
A group of about 20 volunteers helps with the party, the vast majority of which are under 20 years old. Among them also Ids van Bruggen (15) who has been helping since he was twelve.
“I really enjoy doing it. Every year it is a very nice party, a really fun way to get to know young people,” he says. “I especially help with preparing, internship buildings, the Finishing Touches. “
According to youth worker Geertsma, the reactions of the youth are very positive. “Children from 12 to 17 can go to the party, for many of them it is the first time they go to a party without parents.”
But according to him, the parents are also happy that the party is being held. “We get reactions from: Gosh, how nice that you do it and how good that it is alcohol -free,” says Geertsma.
During the party, well-known Tiktok artists and local artists from Tynaarlo perform. In addition, there is a Rodeo bull, there are Gladiator fights and a Silent Disco.
