The guys from Today Inside would do well to take a break and recharge. They have been very repetitive lately. That is the opinion of Private star journalist Jan Uriot.
Arjen Lubach, the new king of the late evening, is taking the first week of April off to recharge. After five weeks, he is exactly halfway through the season. Perhaps the men of Today Inside would also do well to take a break, says Privé star journalist Jan Uriot in his column What does Jan think?†
Break for VI?
Jan applauds Arjen’s pause. “There should be more of that. Maybe the men of VI would think about that too to take a break, because of course you quickly fall into the same story. Same tone and same jokes and stuff.”
The Privé star points out that Arjen’s program is essentially different from Today Inside. “Arjen doesn’t make a talk show. That’s a comedy show, albeit on current events, and there’s a team of writers behind it. It should always be fun and powerful, of course, and it’s very difficult to maintain that for long.”
The new Art
Those who absolutely do not need a break are the talk show presenters of RTL 4. After all, they have already elevated taking a break to a sport. And then Renze Klamer is also added to the latenight stable.
Jan fears the worst for Renze. “He may present a program in the summer, in August, but then the whole of the Netherlands will be having a barbecue. We have also experienced this with Art Rooijakkers. That was The Summer of Art. Nobody looked at that!”
thousandths cloth
Jan does not seem to believe very much in Renze’s RTL career. “I really wonder what kind of contract that is. What’s on offer now? For the rest, he can stand at the desk at Boulevard and play a game. It will of course be RTL’s new thousand-things cloth.”
