The next season will be the last for Lara Gut-Behrami. But a special highlight is waiting for the ski racer.

Lara Gut-Behrami will end her career after the upcoming World Cup season. “It doesn’t always have to be back and forth,” said the Swiss woman a few weeks before the start of the season in Sölden. “I never thought that my career would be so long.” The 30-year-old is grateful for a long career-and is now looking forward to the freedom that the farewell will bring.

A gold medal and two bronze medal at the Olympic Games, two World Cup titles and many other successes was allowed to celebrate Gut-Behrami in their career. “It was not always easy for my family. They had to go through a lot, but they were also allowed to experience incredible things,” she said.

One highlight is still ahead: the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The region means a lot to her – at the 2021 World Cup, she won gold in the giant slalom and bronze in the descent. “A beautiful area,” says Gut-Behrami about the Dolomites, “there are not many better places for me to hold Olympics.”

The focus is not on the sporting result, but closeness. The games almost take place on your door – a home game at the end. “It will be a wonderful experience for the family,” she says. “Incredible to experience that,” she adds SRF on Swiss television. “It will be the crowning glory.”
