There are 12 studio albums of the Beatles, 12 Greatest Hits LPs and five live records. The British come to 493 songs and over 1 billion recorded recordings. What would the repertoire look like without the driving force Paul McCartneys? Apparently much smaller, as Ringo Starr now revealed to “AXS TV”. So McCartney ensured that the four Beatles not only lazy. “We just sat around, and then Paul called: ‘All right, boys’, and we started,” Starr describes the cooperation at the time.
Starr and Lennon needed motivation
The Beatles drummer also describes that John Lennon and he needed the drive McCartneys. In the studio it was mostly the now 81-year-old who made the group make music. “Because of Paul, who was the workaholic in our band, we did a lot more records than John and I would have done it. We’d better sit around a bit, and then Paul called ‘everything clear, boys’ and we went in,” he recalls the time. “Suddenly we had a life and children, and the effort we had made because we had really worked hard started to fade a little, and we thank Paul to this day.”
“We didn’t get along”
Even if the Beatles looked like a teamed -up team on stage and in front of the camera, the mood behind the scenes does not always seem to have been rosy. In the interview, Starr reports that the group has not always been able to cope with each other. “No, we didn’t get along. We were four boys, we had noise. But that never got in the way of music, no matter how big the argument was. As soon as the countdown [für den Songstart] We were all giving our best, ”said the 83-year-old. But even when they have sometimes gave themselves: Ringo Starr is happy not to have been on stage alone. It was particularly aware of it when the band met Elvis.“ It is interesting because when we met Elvis, I really thought ‘how sad ”that he was alone.
