Dancing Chicken Nuggets and a nonsense song text: A remix of “Cotton Eye Joe” cracks all records
“Intentigedagedago” – what sounds like gibberish at first glance is the name of a mass event on YouTube, which has now cracked the eighth world record.
Recommendations of the editorial team
The event emerged from Rednex ‘”Cotton Eye Joe” and the remake called “Unterschedigedagedago”. It started in January 2024, reached its climax in March with 163 million calls a day and then gradually sounded.
More clicks than Adele, BTS and “Baby Shark”
According to the responsible PR agency, eight world records cracked “opposition to it”: it recorded 12.75 billion views in one year. This watched 20 % of all YouTube users: inside and 8 % of the world’s population. It received 650 million clear spectators: in 90 days and 8.2 billion views in 90 days (26 times faster than the hits song “Despacito”).
Furthermore, it made three billion views and more than 101 million views a day on 27 out of 33 days in 25 days. “Dynamite” from BTS had held the previous Guinness record. In addition, it received one billion calls in seven days – the previous record was 87 days, with “Hello” from Adele.
And it reached 10 billion views in 137 days-no other song or video has ever reached this number, according to the PR agency, except “Baby Shark”, which needed nine years.
Converted to the actual playback period, the song was played for 6,000 years, which corresponds to an equivalent of 1.8 billion calls for a conventional music video with 100 seconds. The average playback time of “opposite digedago” on shorts is 14.8 seconds.
Original evil Rednex are happy
“Aga is probably the most played song in human history when you look at a period of one year. This almost exactly corresponds to the growth strategy that we set for the song in 1994 when we made it number 1 for the first time,” commented Pat Reiniz, the original producer of the song, the records in a press release. “Incase of the opposite” is still being played 3 million times a day.
Reiniz had previously given the media to consider that the music industry would have to rethink in the future how the success of a song would be measured-whether on traditional charts or on YouTube short videos.
And all because of animated chicken nuggets?
It has been 30 years ago that the Eurodance earworm “Cotton Eye Joe” by the Swedish band Rednex International has conquered the charts. But how did it come about that was viral? It has to do with animated chicken nuggets: According to “Yahoo”, everything started with Razi Irwani, a Danish musician and tiktoker. A few months ago, he missed the fantasy text “Tagedagedago” “Cotton Eye Joe” and landed a viral hit on Tikkok with almost 30 million clicks. As usual on Tikkok, the sound clip was processed in further videos and finally found its way on YouTube. There he was placed in a group of animated chicken nuggets in the digitally painted mouth.
Original “Cotton Eye Joe” is announced again
The success of the chicken Nuggets also helped the 90s hit from Rednex to a hearing revival. As the band itself announced in a press release, “Cotton Eye Joe” has achieved three billion new clicks within a less than a month-also a new YouTube record.
