“Stress and traffic do not go well together,” says the Oost-Brabant traffic police. That became apparent Tuesday afternoon on the A59 near Rosmalen, where a 44-year-old motorist lost his patience entirely in the traffic jam. He decided to overtake the right lane on the right and then added back through a pointed piece. The promotion earned him two fines of 310 euros each.
The police arrested the man and immediately let him see the images again. That turned out to be confronting, the police say. “He was visibly shocked by his own behavior.” The driver was told that he is eligible for an educational measure of the CBR if he does not improve his driving style.
According to the man himself, it went wrong because of stress. The traffic jam “didn’t work out well,” he said. The police warns that this is not an excuse: “Stress and traffic do not go together. It provides dangerous situations.”
The motorist can keep his driver’s license for the time being. However, the police emphasize that repetition can have consequences and the CBR can then intervene.
