Ex-footballer Marvin Plattenhardt presents his start-up with his wife at “The Lion’s Den”. There is a curious situation.
In September 2024, Marvin Plattenhardt ended his active career as a football professional. Previously, the 33-year-old had already been a clubless for over a year after his farewell to Hertha BSC after nine years in the capital in the summer of 2023.
The time after his career, in which Plattenhardt was also allowed to play seven caps for the German national team, the former full -back dedicates a newly founded company. Together with his wife Sara, whom he married in Italy in the summer of 2022, he founded the start-up “Pinú”. There they produce vegan milk alternatives from pistachios.
The couple now presented their company in the VOX show “The Lion’s Den”. There, company founders can present themselves and their products to the “Löwen”, ie known investors such as Carsten Maschmeyer, Judith Williams or Frank Thelen. They then decide whether they want to invest in companies.
During the presentation of their pistachio milk, however, the records experienced a somewhat curious moment. Part of the presentation were also some photos from Plattenhardt’s active career as a footballer. “Löwin” Judith Williams asked interested: “What kind of jersey is that?” And pointed to one of the pictures shown. The question was also stunned by the other investors, because on the picture displayed, Plattenhardt wore the right -wing jersey of the German national team.
Accordingly, Williams’ colleague Frank Thelen also noticed with a smile: “So, you really have no idea about football, right?” It just shook his head a little ashamed and admitted her ignorance.
After that, the evening for the Plattenhardts became less gratifying: At the end of their presentation, none of the investors wanted to start with the couple’s company. The episode “The Lion’s Den” with the Plattenhardts can only be seen on the TV on October 6th. With RTLplus, however, the series can be seen in advance.
