The Turkish record champion lets Istanbul shake with a surprise victory. Meanwhile, José Mourinho is not lucky with a comeback at the old place of work. And Kylian Mbappé runs hot.
Completely surprising defeat for FC Liverpool has on the second matchday of the Champions League league. At the Turkish champion Galatasaray Istanbul, the English lost 0-1 (0: 1). National player Florian Wirtz was also unable to significantly influence the weak idea of the Reds.
Gala’s record access Victor Osimhen, who converted a penalty in the 16th minute, made the decision early in the game. Previously, Dominik Szoboszlai Baris Yilmaz had hit his face in the penalty area. Liverpool determined the game for long distances, but hardly came to compelling chances.
Shortly before the end, Liverpool received the great opportunity to equalize – but referee Clément Turpin took back an initially imposed penalty after studying video.
At Galatasaray, İlkay Gündoğan was on the pitch for 75 minutes. Leroy Sané, on the other hand, surprisingly only sat on the bench. Success was a liberation for the Turks after they got under 1: 5 at Eintracht Frankfurt at the start.
In the meantime, Inter Milan has entered the second success in series. The previous year’s finalist prevailed 3-0 (2-0) against Slavia Prague on Tuesday evening and had little effort.
After half an hour Lautaro Martínez put the Italians in the lead. Just four minutes later, Denzel increased Dumfries to 2: 0. With the fast double strike, the game was practically decided.
Inter also remained clearly superior in the second round. Once again Martínez made the final score in the 65th minute with his second goal. Slavia Prague could hardly counter the pressure of the favorite.
The “Blues”, who had lost 1: 3 at FC Bayern at the start, took the lead in the 18th minute by an own goal of Richard Ríos. Benfica then fought against the defeat, but could no longer compensate for the deficit. In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Chelsea’s João Pedro saw the traffic light card after yellow-red. Nothing changed about the result. Mourinho had won three Premier League titles between 2004 and 2007 and from 2013 to 2015.
Meanwhile, Olympique Marseille celebrated a clear success. The traditional French club won 4-0 (3-0) against Ajax Amsterdam and already added the second defeat to the Dutch.
