Disaster in the “cauldron”: clear bankruptcy for Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt could not connect to the spectacular Champions League start. Atlético Madrid set it off.
The team of coach Dino Toppmöller had little chance from the start. Giacomo Raspadori Atlético put the lead in the fourth minute. Robin Le Normand (33rd minute) and Antoine Griezmann (45.+1) increased before the break. After the break, it looked briefly as if Frankfurt could do resistance again. National striker Jonathan Burkardt reduced to 1: 3 in the 57th minute, but Giuliano Simeone (70th) and Julián Alvaraz had clear conditions with a penalty (82nd).
After the 5: 1 gala at the start against Galatasaray Istanbul, the SGE was the second day leader, the 6: 4 against Gladbach also gave confidence. “It will be a blatant opponent. A difficult stadium with a nasty opponent,” predicted the recently outstanding Can Uzun: “But we are prepared for it.” But atlético also came after the 5-2 from the city derby against Real with a lot of tailwind – and played out his class right from the start.
In the first attack on the right side, the son of Atlético coach Diego Simeone, Giuliano. His flank falsified Arthur Theat in front of Raspadori’s feet, which only had to insert from four meters. Frankfurt tried to show himself unimpressed. Except for a long -range shot by Farès Chaibi (6th), nothing dangerous jumped out, the SGE Atlético repeatedly invited to the feared switching game much more.
Almost every minute, it burned in the Eintracht-sixtehner, and several risky rescue campaigns were very needed. In addition, Simeone (7th), Griezmann (13th) and Julián Alvarez (16th, 17th) came to good final chances. With enormous intensity, the Madrilenen, caught by the red barriers of Simeone by assistant coach Nelson Vivas, dominated the game. Only after around 20 minutes did Frankfurt stabilize themselves defensively, but did not know anything to start with the ball ownership.
Instead, on the opposite side Le Normand pressed a corner on the second post over the line and Griezmann hit the 200th time for Madrid after great preparatory work by Alvarez. After the change, Burkardt had some hope germinated after passing by Ansgar Knauff, but the “Rojiblancos” were completely master of the situation with the 4-1 at the latest and ultimately also clearly designed the game.
