Iltalehti reader Aurora found a nasty surprise in his fridge. Before that, however, the situation became a relationship.
Aurora says she returned home with her husband on Sunday from the weekend. At home, there was a nasty smell that didn’t want to go away at all.
– We came home from a weekend trip and suddenly a terrible stink started. We tried to locate where it came from, Aurora says.
– We have time to argue that here is a pretty fart here.
The couple had time to suspect that maybe one of the parts of the house was moldy. In the end, they located the smell of the source in the egg package.
– We decided to open one and there was a shocking surprise. It doesn’t make you mind eating eggs for a while, Aurora says.
– It had to play and sniff a little home dog. Yes, I noticed it when it went close to that package.
Aurora made a disgusting discovery on Sunday 28 September. The smell did not disappear for many hours. Now the eggs are in the closet waiting to be destroyed.
There was still plenty of date left in the egg. The Best Before Day was marked on 5.10.
– They had at least a week left. The first thing that came to my mind was that it would come.
The story goes on after the picture.
“For this reason, break the eggs first into the glass and then to the food,” Aurora advises. Reader
S Group Product Quality Manager Katja Pasila Reply by e -mail that the early pollution of the eggs is affected by strong variations, especially in storage conditions, and an overly thin layer of egg.
– Eggs are sensitive to temperature fluctuations and are best preserved at a smooth, cool temperature. If the eggs are stored alternately at room temperature and refrigerator, moisture condenses on their surface, which exposes them to spoilage, Pasila says.
– The most important task of the egg shell is to protect the egg. As the chicken bar is aging, the bark becomes thinner and the size of the egg increases. In this case, a thinner and weaker shell is more susceptible to damage, which can lead to premature contamination. This is the most common reason for the premature contamination of a single egg.
How common is the eggs to spoil before the best before day?
-It is very rare for the eggs to be spoiled -and even rarer that they will be spoiled before the best before the date. In packing sites, the quality assurance of the eggs includes checking the thickness and integrity of the shell and the removal of contaminated eggs. Sometimes, however, pollution due to a weak bark does not start until after packing, whereby the contaminated egg may end up to the consumer, Pasila says.
– Feedback monitoring and quality assurance measures are part of our normal operation. If we receive a notification of pollution, we will ensure the information we need and report with the packing station as soon as possible. Packaging stations are constantly going through the quality factors of eggs with their producers. Producers are constantly monitoring in chicken when the age of chicken is beginning to appear as a weakened shell quality.
According to Pasila, the pollution of eggs is usually due to deviations in storage conditions or a poor, possibly damaged shell.
