To improve this health, it is important, according to Uiterwijk, that the Kooksfabriek 2, known as the most polluting part of Tata, closes as quickly as possible. “Tata has always said that the factory closes in 2029 and I think we should keep Tata on their own deadline.”
“So we have to wait and see if the IJmonder will be healthier,” says Uiterwijk. “In a year they will come up with an official plan and we want to see a clearly measurable assurance of health.”

A little further, in front of the gate of Tata, the relief today is great, after all the reports about forced fired, losing and a feared closure on the horizon. “It is good news for the company, and for the environment. Good to take steps now and to renew installations,” says Vincent, installation manager of different cranes.
“We are relieved, because I think the local residents also suffer from us. It’s good that there is a plan. Good for me, good for you, right?” Says Cansoy.
