SC Magdeburg misses the final of the club World Cup. In the new edition of the previous year’s final against Veszprem, the Wiegert team can no longer compensate for a weak phase in the middle of the second half.
SC Magdeburg missed the fifth final participation in a series at the club World Cup. The team of coach Bennet Wiegert lost the first semi -finals against the reigning title holder HC Veszprem with 20:23 (11: 9). Best SCM thrower in front of only 600 spectators in the “new administrative capital” of Egypt near Cairo was Tim Hornke with five out of five converted seven meters. Ahmed Adel met for the Hungary And Ali Zein (five goals each) most frequently.
Compact SCM defensive-scarce Half -time leadership
The Saxony-Anhalt initially acted wide awake, especially on the defensive and were once more able to rely on a brilliant keeper Sergey Hernandez. The Spaniard, who came to six parades (40 percent defense rate) in the course of the first half, only had to grab one (!) Times behind in the first ten minutes. However, his foregrayers missed more than the 3-1 lead in this initial phase-including two unusual misconceptions by Omar Ingi Magnusson from the seven-meter point.
Sergey Hernandez (archive image) was also a strong backing for SC Magdeburg in the semi-finals of the club World Cup.
After all, Hornke’s first successful seven meter ended the eight -minute thirst track on the offensive (4: 3/14.). The SCM then repeatedly sat down on three goals (Magnus Saugstrup/8: 5/19.; Elvar Jonsson/9: 6/23.). However, Veszprem equalized (Yehia Elderaa/9: 9/26.). Gisli Kristjansson and Felix Claar ensured the Magdeburg two-goal lead for the break (11: 9).
SCM collects 1: 7 run- Preliminary Ball loss of Kristjansson
Up to the 38th minute, the narrow leadership of the reigning Champions League winner remained stable (14:12)-until the Hungarians suddenly lay in front by a 5-0 run (14: 17/45.). The Wiegert team agreed again almost nothing, first Claar made the knot solder (15: 17/45.). However, Veszprem could not be disturbed. Elderaa increased for the first time to minus four from SCM perspective (15: 19/48.)-The preliminary highlight of Veszprems 7: 1 run.
Ali Zein (archive picture) was one of two VeszPrem players with five goals.
The two goals from Hornke from the point and Albin Lagergren provided hope (18: 20/53.). Again Hornke shortened with his fifth converted seven meter to one one (20: 21/57.). But Kristjansson’s offensive foul buried the chance of 21:21 equalization (58th). Then the Hungarians brought the victory over time.
