The first West-Flemish part of the N49, the important connection between Antwerp and Knokke-Heist, has been completed. The Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV) has been working since 2023 on the conversion of the Natiënlaan from Expresweg to highway, with wider lanes and parallel roads for local traffic.
Flemish Minister for Mobility Annick de Ridder: “The conversion of this express road to a full -fledged highway is an important step. This way we can make traffic flow more smoothly and safer, with a tunnel and parallel roads for local traffic and cyclists.”
