Roland Virkus is no longer a sports director of Borussia Mönchengladbach. This was announced on Tuesday afternoon (30.09.25).
The Presidium and the Supervisory Board “gave birth to his tasks on his proposal,” wrote Borussia in a statement.
Virkus has worked for Borussia since 1990. Since 2022 he has been managing the association as a sports manager. The “foals” are in the last place after a failed start to the season. Trainer Gerardo Seoane had to go weeks ago. Interim coach Eugen Polanski scored a point in two games.
No successor known yet
The association cited Virkus in its press announcement: “I always said that the club is above everything and therefore decided to take this step.”
According to Mönchengladbach’s chairman of the supervisory board Michael Hollmann, the joint decision was made in an appreciative atmosphere. To search for Virkus’ successor, he said: “Presidium, the supervisory board and management are in vote on the next steps and the further procedure.”
