The 19-year-old Malik O. has to go into jail for two years for the attacks he committed at café Boerke Verschuren. The court in Breda ruled on Tuesday. Malik O. tried to start a fire twice in January in the cafe on the Ginnikenmarkt in Breda by always lighting a bottle of gasoline and throwing it against the cafe.
It was not thanks to O. that both times no big fire broke out in the cafe, the court ruled, who was very bad at the Malik O. that these arson owner Johan de Vos and his family and employees are busy to this day.
The first attack was on January 17. Then there was a fire in the cafe, but it went out of himself. At the second attack, on January 19, owner Johan de Vos had now installed plastic plates behind the windows and there was no longer a fire.
Malik O. admitted that he had indeed thrown that fire bomb on January 19. But on January 17 he had not been there. The court thinks differently. The young man on the images looks exactly like Malik O. and he performs the same actions as two days later. According to the court, his telephone data, messages and Snapchat also show that O. was also the perpetrator on January 17. “I do this with love,” Malik wrote to the client, whom he did not want to call.

The court also blames the Malik that he did not want to explain anything about the first attack. The court does not believe the story that he was forced for the second attack by a few men who would have pulled him into a van.
According to the court, there was no life to be feared, but the judges find the attack so intense and the fear of those involved so great that a higher punishment was laid on it than was required. Two weeks ago, the judiciary still demanded 24 months in jail, 6 of which were conditional, but that will be 2 years in prison without a conditional part.
Johan de Vos, the owner of Boerke Verschuren, addressed Malik emotionally during the session. The attacks cost him a lot of money, but the worst thing is that his family and his employees have been living in fear for nine months. “And that is because of your choices. You have taken our freedom to us. Of course I am approached, at school, in the city, everywhere. Because of your behavior I am sitting in a film in which I do not want to sit. You love a cafe flat with love, I hear. That goes beyond every empathy.”
During the session, the impression was created that O. comes from a neat, hard -working family. Together with his father he would work in construction. During the ruling, however, his mother showed herself of her worst side by spitting and scolding a reporter of the newspaper after the ruling. In the meantime, son Malik was taken to the cell by the police.
