Gijs Staverman thinks that in the end will be fine with Gordon’s listening figures, his direct colleague at Radio 10. “Let’s see how things are going in a month.”

The listening figures of Radio 10 are under a magnifying glass, because John de Mol has put down a pretty famous name in the morning: Gordon. How does he perform together with his co-host Froukje de Both? The first results are disappointing, because the Golden-Holdies channel has collapsed from the sixth to the tenth position in the ranking.

Free fall

What does Gijs Staverman think that his channel is in a free fall? “Well, of course a lot has already been said and written about it. It has been going on for about four weeks now. They started in September. Yes, I really like to listen,” he says to the desk of Shownieuws.

Presenter Airen Mylene: “But tough figures, rock hard figures?”

Gijs: “Yes, but I understand that you meant of course. You want to know how things are going in terms of listening figures. Those figures are weekly. They are spent every week, they are added together and then you get monthly figures.”

‘A little lower’

It is indeed not going well, says Gijs. “At Radio 10 they are a bit lower and that also has to do with that other radio stations knew that Gordon and Froukje were starting in the morning. They also programmed a top 3000 opposite, a list of the eighties in return. I understand.”

He continues: “If I listen to it in the morning, I think that Froukje Gordon is very good in hand and I think it’s a great duo. Let’s see how things are going in a month or in two months. I think it’s going well. I think it’s a very nice morning show on Radio 10.”

Own audience

It makes sense that the figures from Gordon and Froukje are falling, says Gijs. “It just takes a while before you can create your own audience. I started at Radio 10 last year. I do the afternoon show and in the beginning you also saw that it is a bit of a walk, because the people were used to something else.”

He continues: “Now you see that things are going very well. Radio always takes longer. It is very different from television.”

“It’s so faint”

Gordon itself can also say something about the camera from Shownieuws. “It is so faint. Radio is a completely different medium. That works much slower. People drop out who are used to a pattern and people are added.”

Froukje: “I think the most important thing is to focus on your own program and to enjoy it as much as possible.”

Gordon: “If it has dropped in half a year, then we would have had a nice half year. Hahahahaha.”

Finally, Gijs: “At least they keep courage in it. I think it will be fine.”
