German retail remains weak. In August, sales decreased by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office said in Wiesbaden on Tuesday. Analysts, on the other hand, expected an increase of 0.6 percent after the proceeds had dropped 0.5 percent in the previous month.
The sales in internet and mail order business were above average. In August, the Federal Office reports a decline in sales by 2.0 percent. The sales in retail with non-food also contributed to the weak development with a decline of 1.0 percent.
