Homosexuality is still not a matter of course in football. Laura Freiegel explains how her outing came about.
The German international Laura Freiang spoke openly about how her relationship became known with a woman. “It was a friend that I had a friend. I actually wanted to save the video privately for myself and accidentally uploaded it,” Freiang told the Tagesspiegel in an interview.
In August, Freise posted a video on the TikKOK platform, which she showed on vacation with her partner. She did not regret: “But it was the best way because I didn’t want to hide anything anyway. Nevertheless, I never really wanted to get out because it is not a fact that deserves a statement.”
Some footballers and especially footballers do not dare to go public – an absurdity. “We move in times when this is unfortunately not yet normal. If you go to the public with something like that so that positive things do and get people to open up to the topic, it is something nice,” said Eintracht Frankfurt.
Especially the medial echo surprised freedom after her unwanted coming-out: “It was surprising that so many articles were published about it and it was considered so interesting.”
