A young keeper fights for his life for two days after a collision, but the doctors cannot save him. The family makes a decision.

A young football goalkeeper was declared in Spain two days after a collision with an opponent for brain dead. The family of the 19 -year -old Raúl Ramírez had decided to donate his organs to help other people in need, the Football Association of the Cantabria (RFCF) said. According to the announcement, three mourning days were proclaimed for the entire region in northern Spain.

The tragic incident occurred on Saturday. During a game of the fifth division between SD Revilla and the CD Colindres, there was a serious collision. According to the agreed media reports, none of the parties involved was to blame. According to the doctors, the goalkeeper from Colindres suffered a heavy traumatic brain trauma and several cardiovascular homes.

The game was canceled at 1-0 for the home team. Ramírez was still cared for in the field and then brought to the intensive care unit of the University Hospital Valdecilla in Santander. There the doctors fought for his life. Despite all the efforts, the young goalkeeper could not be saved.

The regional president of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, was deeply affected: “A young man full of life, full of dreams and full of future. My entire sympathy and the cantabria applies to his family, his friends and the entire football family of Cantabria.”
