Ukraine expects two more Patriot air-aircraft systems

Ukraine will soon expect two more patriot air defense systems. The country recently received a patriot installation from Israel, according to President Volodimir Zelenski. It remained unclear who delivers the other two systems.

Patriots are a precious American defense system with missiles that is essential for Ukraine to repel Russian rocket attacks. They have been used against Russian aggression for several years.

The Israeli Patriot system has now been used for a month, Zelenski said during a press conference. “In the fall we will receive two more patriot systems.”

The American newspaper The New York Times reported in May that a patriot system stationed in Israel would be sent to Ukraine after modernization. The delivery was not yet officially confirmed.

According to media reports, there are a total of ten Patriot batteries in Ukraine, including some from Germany. Berlin has also supported the government in Kiev with several German IRIS-T air defense systems. Iris-T and Patriot are mainly used against rockets and planes. Other weapons, such as the German Pard-air target guns that have also been supplied to Ukraine, are for the defense against drones.
