Fortuna Düsseldorf led an early goal to a 1-0 away win at the penultimate from Bochum. On the 7th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, the hosts did not manage to create real chances from the game superiority and remained amazingly pale.
After just four minutes, Fortuna from Düsseldorf, who was recently weak, was able to cheer. Tim Oberdorf (4th) put the guests in the lead with his first goal of the season. After that, the hosts were game -determining the game without getting too big. In the end there was a goal shot ratio of 23 to seven on the statistics list. Due to the sixth defeat in the seventh game, Bochum is in the penultimate place in the table with three points, Fortuna climbs ninth.
The NRW duel on Castroper Straße started with about ten minutes of delay, due to too strong smoke development in the guest block. Just as motivated as the fans who traveled with us, the team of Daniel Thoune lit the turbo from the start. After 180 seconds, Fortuna fought a free kick and the next moment it was already 1-0 (4th). Florent Muslija’s cross extended Cedric itten by head to Oberdorf, who had to complete half -left in the sixteen.
Defective floodlight mast ensures the next interruption
As a result, VfL did not take long to cope with the early goal. Driven by Captain Matus Bero, who narrowly missed Florian Kastenmeier’s goal just a few minutes later. The next big chance then had the guests again. Valgeir Lunddal asserted himself on the right wing and flanked to the center, where itten was initially failed by direct acceptance on the VfL keeper Timo Horn and then also with the rebound (17th).
The Vonovia-Ruhr Stadium was at the beginning of the game against Düsseldorf in the fog of pyrotechnics
After that, the game ebbated a bit and the next excitement was just a defective floodlight mast. Bochum continued to go forward with a lot of possession (60%), but the team of David Siebers could not play real chances. Again and again the last precision in the passport or degree was missing, including shortly before the break. First Fortuna’s Emmanuel Iyoha put the ball in the sixteen, then Bochum’s switchover movement also fizzled out through a sloppy play by Kjell Wätjen (45.).
Kastenmeier prevents the compensation by Holtmann
The second half started with a committed host who had the next little chance after three minutes. Gerrit Holtmann was brought into a good flank position on the left, the cross missed Kacper Kosciersk on the second head. In the 58th minute it was Holtmann himself who made a real chance. After winning the ball, the offensive man finished from twelve meters, Kastenmeier just scratched the ball from the long corner.
Ten minutes before the end, the spectators in the Ruhr Stadium only got the next highlight to marvel at. Farid Alfa-Ruprecht picked up some pace on the right and brought the ball onto Kastenmeier’s goal. He had the ball bounced off, but Matthias Zimmermann cleared the ball in front of the rushing Mathis Clairicia (81st). The goal would not have counted due to an offside position from Clairicia anyway.
Bochum remains in the table cellar after defeat
In the six minutes of stoppage time, the balls flew into the Düsseldorf penalty area and rarely found a buyer. In the 91st minute Ibrahima Sissoko (91.) narrowly missed the ball. Francis Onyeka had the best chance of one point three minutes later. The midfielder fed up from the distance and Kastenmeier could only steer the ball over the crossbar. In keeping with the game, the subsequent corner sailed over the Düsseldorf sixteen and thus the fourth VfL defeat in a row was sealed.
