Paralympics winner Josia Topf got his second gold medal at the swimming World Cup in Singapore. Topf’s World Cup title over 50 meters freestyle meant the eighth precious metal for the German team.
Over 50 meters freestyle (S3), the Erlanger fought an extremely tight race with the Italian Gabriele Lorenzo. The Paris winner of Paris had to fight to the end, but was able to reward himself with his second gold medal in Singapore.

Pot was the first from the start and was able to save his lead. After 42.85 seconds, the athlete hit his head as usual. Lorenzo followed 64 hundredths behind the German and got silver. Bronze went to the Ukrainian Denys OstaPchenko.
“It was an incredible race. I took all the strength I had – for the final sprint. And luckily it was worth it too“, Pot was happy at the finish line. Before that, he had already secured gold over 150 meters at the World Cup (SM3) and silver over 50 meters back.
Pot, which had won a complete medal set at the Paralympics in Paris, now also comes to three precious metals: twice gold and once silver.
