The accident happened around 10.45 am in the Ruuschaartstraat. The driver had to sneeze and therefore lost control of the steering wheel. He ended up in the canal. His cargo consisted of, among other things, disinfection fluid, electric batteries and road salt. Because there was a leak, the road was completely closed. A hazardous substances adviser came to the scene before the hoisting works could start.
The driver of the truck was slightly injured.
